All-media accepted:

Works will be accepted in numerous media including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, print-making, collage, mixed media, kinetic art/mobiles, photography, mosaics, sculpture, fabric, and glass.

Eligibility:

This exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be original works (no reproductions), created by the artists, 2023 or later, and not been in a previous exhibit at Bower Center. 2-D art must be in sturdy frames or gallery-wrapped and wired for hanging (no saw-tooth hangers or use of loops embedded in cardboard backing).

Max size: 2D 60” in either direction

3D Space is available for free-standing broad-based sculpture of varying heights. Art requiring pedestal bases should be no larger than 15”-20” at the base and limited to 3’-4’ in height. Contact Bower Center to discuss your entry if to be suspended, a 35 pound weight limit applies. Note on entry form if a pedestal is required.

Bower Center reserves the right to deny entry of any work deemed not suitable to display or too difficult to install.

Jurying will be done from electronic files and are required.

Electronic file specifications:

File format: JPG, longest dimension: 2400 pixels (preferably 300 ppi)

File name: Last name, First name_Title of art work

3-D entries should include 2-3 different angles

E-mail files to exhibits@bowercenter.org, if not included with online entry.

Put 2026 Annual Juried in the email subject line.

Early Bird Pricing (Until 5/2/26): $35 for 3 artworks/$45 for 4

Early Bird Email/Paper Entries: $45/$55

Standard Entry Pricing (After 5/2/26 thru 6/6/26): $45 for 3 artworks/$55 for 4

Standard Email/Paper Entries: $55/$65

Juror/Judge Bio: Elsabé J. Dixon

Elsabé J. Dixon is past Executive Director of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, has served as agency grant writer and President for the Washington Sculptors Group, Washington DC; taught art at Averett University; George Mason University; has a background in Fine Arts, and has done independent curatorial work for Riverviews Art Space in Lynchburg VA; Penn State University, PA; George Mason University, VA; and McLean Project for the Arts in McLean VA.

She sits on the Advisory Board of the McLean Project for the Arts, the Washington Sculptors Group, and the Hillyer Gallery in Washington DC (jurying 18 solo exhibitions for the Hillyer per year). Dixon holds degrees from Averett University (BA) and a Masters from George Mason University in New Medium Studies. She also studied Art History at the Corcoran in DC, as well as the Manhattan College in NYC and took American Art History courses through VCU. She is dedicated to public service and advancing the role of art, history, and education through community engagement and is currently teaching at Chatham Hall where the Robin Peake Stuart Collection can be viewed.
